My Nighttime Routine

Majority of people in the world don’t repeat the same sequence of events everyday. Some days you work, some days you don’t. Other days you may go out with your friends, and maybe once a week you go shopping. The one thing us humans tend to repeat everyday is what we do every night. I’ve decided to write a list and create a blog post of what I do every night. By every night, I mean every night. About one or two days out of the whole week, I do not do this routine. Today, I’m not here to talk about what I do on those nights, today I am here to share with you all what I do every night before I go to sleep and wake up for the next day.

My night routine start quiet early in the night. Between 7 o’clock and 8 o’clock I take a 3 mile walk with my mom. Once we have finished our walk, I come home and take a shower. I wanted to touch on why I’m taking a shower at this time of the day. Instead of getting up in the morning and taking a shower, I take them at night. There is one specific reason why I do this. Naturally, my hair is curly and very thick! It takes a lot of time to take a shower, let my hair dry or blow dry it, straighten it and get ready. If I did this, I would need to get up a few hours early. I am not a morning person, so this doesn’t work out too well. Someday, I will take a shower and let my hair air dry and have my hair curly throughout the day.  Before I continue, I wanted to share with you a tip about taking a shower at night. If you wish to take them at night, I don’t recommend going to bed straight away. Going to bed with a wet hair can cause problems with your pillows and bed sheets. I used to go to sleep right after a shower, some days, I would wake up and my hair was still wet. This is also another reason to not head to bed right after your shower.
After I have taken my shower, I brush my hair, teeth, clean my ears, and whatever else I need to do. The number one thing I request doing is cleaning your face. Soon, I will have a blog post about what I used to clean my face, so keep an eye out for that! Cleaning your face every night will help your face stay clean. As you sleep, your body, in a way, renews its self. With the germs on your face, bacteria will start to form and cause more acne. If you don’t want to bother with cleaning your face, all you have to do is take a wash cloth, wet it with warm water and wash your face. By doing this, you will at least take the germs off your face. I like to add face cream and other face products that help my face stay clean.
After this is completed, I like to get something to drink, go into my room and get onto the computer. I will get onto the computer for a few hours, while my hair dries. When it’s time to start to head to bed, I will grab something to do. I am not a type of person who can go straight to bed and to sleep. I need to be doing something until I can’t see straight anymore and will instantly go to bed. Most nights, I will look through my planner to make sure I’m not forgetting to do anything the next day. Some times, I will grab one of my journals and write about my day, or write something that makes me feel good. I like to only write the positive down. It doesn’t do you any good to write the negative and go to bed thinking about them. Usually, I like to write in my Q & A journal on the current date question. Some nights I will also read a book.
When I start to get tired, I will turn the lights out and lay in bed on my phone. Now, I know many people may disagree with using electronics before bed. I don’t want to lie about something I do myself. It is something I have always done and need to do. I have tried to not use my phone and go straight to sleep, it did not work. When I tried this, I laid in bed for hours thinking, which is never good for me. When I start to get tired, then I will put my phone away, and fall right to sleep.
I hope my night time routine helps any of you! If it did comment below. Don’t forget to follow my blog. I hope you all have a wonderful day or night!

  1. I was just talking to a friend about this – I have GOT to get in a better routine for my wellbeing! Right now, I honestly take out my contacts and climb into bed. And I always keep my phone on before I go to bed – I know, I know, we aren’t supposed to. But it’s the perfect time to catch up on Instagram!

  2. I like your daily walk routine. This type of activity is actually a natural sleep aid. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Your nighttime routine sounds just like mine, except for the shower in the evening part. But I understand why you have to do something until you’re literally gripping onto consciousness; sleeping at random is quite hard!

  4. I totally agree with you on the electronics before bed! I think I fall asleep so much better if I play on my phone for a little first. I helps keep my mind from racing on all the things I need to do lol. Love your site girl!
